I know in Georgia, it’s still hot outside…and it probably feels entirely too early to be talking about Santa pictures, but like it or not, Christmas will be here soon! Whether you’re a “tree up immediately after Halloween” kind of person or firmly believe that Christmas decorations should not go up until after Thanksgiving, let’s talk about why you should reserve your portraits with Santa early this year!
I also wanted to let you know that I’m participating in a blog circle this month and will be linking to a sweet motherhood photographer in Nebraska. Check out that link at the end of the post.
While it might still feel early, the holiday rush is real, and it will be here before you know it! After Thanksgiving, things seem to move at hyperspeed! Since December is Santa’s busiest month, most photographers (including me) can only get Santa for portraits before Thanksgiving. Booking early means you beat the holiday rush of everyone else looking for Santa pictures!
Avoid the stress of last-minute planning by reserving the date and time that work best with your family’s schedule! Go ahead and put it on your family calendar so that everyone knows when you’ll be visiting with Santa. Booking your Santa pictures early also means you have your choice of the times of day that work best for you–have a toddler who likes a 2:00 nap? Book early and plan around it so your little one will be their happiest self!
It may sound unbelievable, but popular children’s clothing retailers are already starting to release their Christmas collections. Many popular boutique brands sell out quickly, and some only take pre-orders. By reserving your session date early, there will be ample time to plan exactly what outfits you want your children to wear, even if you need to order them!
I don’t know about you, but sometimes, when I feel overwhelmed and stressed, I shut down. While I LOVE Christmastime, sometimes, when it gets here, the stress of knowing everything I need to do and get done before Christmas can give me decision paralysis. I wind up not doing anything, and then my stress is even higher when trying to tie up loose ends at the last minute. Give yourself an early Christmas gift and peace of mind, knowing that one of your holiday “to-dos” has already been checked off your list!
I jokingly call my husband “Mr. Christmas.” He’s the guy who counts down to Christmas, starts playing Christmas music as soon as the local radio station has it on, decorates on November 1, and wears all of his Christmas clothing most of November and December. It may be silly to some, but it brings him (and our family) so much joy! Having your Santa session before Thanksgiving and getting it reserved now allows you to get a head start on your holiday season! While I’m not saying you have to start wearing Christmas clothing now, you could definitely use your Santa session as a behavior management tool with your kiddos. A little reminder that they’ll be seeing Santa soon could go a long way. 😉
Trust me, I know it’s early, and I know it’s hot outside in Georgia, but think of how nice it will be to avoid the holiday rush, secure your preferred date and time, have outfits planned and coordinated early, and give yourself peace of mind as you get a head start to your holiday season with your Santa session in Savannah reserved early.

It is so true that it feels weird to book early but it’s worth it! We just booked ours for Oct and I have plenty of time to figure out outfits. I love the tip on behavior management lol!
So worth it! And hey, anything that works, right? I remember my mom asking me FREQUENTLY when I was little “do you want me to call Santa?” or saying “remember that Santa Claus is watching you!” LOL!
Booking early takes so much stress off. The holidays really do creep up quickly! Yay for peace of mind 🙂
